The Monorail Competetion

Yesterday was our second meeting our of Disney Heritage class. We meet every Tuesday afternoon from 4-6pm and basically go over the history of Disney. Yesterday's class was on Walt and Roy and their struggle for balance in their road to fame and fortune. After an hour of history we got to put what we learned into action. The class was split into five teams and those five teams were split in half. One half was the creative=Walt and the other half was the financial and realistic=Roy. I was a Walt :)

The task was to build a monorail track with archways for passengers to go through. You got a point for each character/passenger that went through each archway. We were given 100 pretend dollars for purchase of pipe cleaners, tape, Velcro, or balloon. We were given 15 characters (plastic Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto...etc.) One of the characters was the Beast and he was worth two points since he was so big. We had twenty minutes to complete our track and run our monorails. The team with the most points wins. Our team got everything together and our monorail started with about 5 minutes left in the competition. Surprising we were the first team to get the monorail going. Half of our characters fell off on the first time around the track so we had 8 characters (1 being the Beast) for our final 5 rotations. We ended up in second place and it turns out the key to getting the most points was having the most characters stay on. It was really fun and it reminded me of old physics projects from high school.

I worked in Funnel for ten hours today...I am so glad it is over. We got to close 45 minutes early because we ran out of mix and the bakery didn't have anymore...shoot. I am supposed to work at an ice cream cart tomorrow and will be off in time to have my dad pick me up! He gets in and a few hours later my mom's plane lands :) I am so excited to have them here. We will go to the parks and they don't know this yet but they are going to take me to the grocery store!!! Yay :) I will be sure to take lots of pictures, especially if we go on any wild roller coasters :)
